White Chocolate Rice Krispie Treats

I know you may be thinking, "Rice Krispie Treats?" Yes, I know the recipe is on the side of the box and it's the easiest thing to make. However, I have struggled with them for some reason. I can make a 4 layer cake but the Rice Krispie treat became my nemesis. They would be too sticky, too hard, too buttery, not enough flavor. It was always something. Apparently I did something mean to Rice Krispies as a child.

Sidenote- I have called them Rice Krispie Treats my whole life, but I was wrong.  I say Rice Krispies when talking about the actual cereal but I feel weird saying Rice Krispies Treats over and over. Too much plural. Does everyone say the plural and I've been wrong forever?

So after several trials of the rice treats, I found my perfect one. And I cannot take credit for it, this one came from my mom. She just casually mentioned it one day and it stuck with me next time I made Rice Krispie Treats. It's only 2 more ingredients than the original and I think it beats out the original in taste as well. The only two ingredients I added are white chocolate chips and vanilla. (plus increased the butter a bit) Voila.

If you are looking to step up your Rice Krispie Treat game, then give these a try. Just that little bit extra makes them so much better. Leave a comment and let me know what you think. Do you like the extra ingredients?
