Two Ingredient Healthy Bagels

I gotta say, I did not have faith that these would be anything but dry, bland cardboard bagels. I mean, usually bread that is tasty is not under the category of healthy. My friend Missy asked if I had tried these two ingredient bagels she heard with a big thing in the Weight Watchers community. She mentioned they were only 2 ingredients (well, 4 if we are getting picky with the toppings) but really only two ingredients.

I tried them out and you guys, these things are delicious and taste like a bagel. Like a delicious, soft, flavorful bagel! I mean, I know that sounds weird that I’m excited that a bagel recipe tastes like a bagel, but this totally took me by surprise. Two ingredient bagels are a hit and I don’t feel bad when I eat 7. With cream cheese. Well, not as bad?

Healthy Two Ingredient Bagels

  • total time: 42 minutes

Servings: 6 bagels

Ingredients:

2 cups non fat Greek Yogurt

2 cups Self Rising Flour

1 large egg

Everything Bagel Topping (or your choice of topping)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line a baking sheet with Silpat or parchment paper.

  2. In a medium bowl, add the Greek yogurt and flour and mix with a wooden spoon until you have made a dough. Get your hands in there to make sure all the flour is mixed in.

  3. Divinde dough into 6 equal parts. Roll dough into a rope shape and then shape into a bagel shape. Repeat with each section of dough. Place each dough bagel on prepared baking sheet.

  4. Whisk the egg and then brush egg onto the tops of the bagels. Sprinkle with Everything Bagel mix or choice of topping.

  5. Bake for 20 minutes then broil on low for 2 minutes. (watch closely)

  6. Remove and let cool. Enjoy!
