Miss Leah Kate’s 2nd birthday party theme was a no brainer this year. The girl loves Sesame Street. Let’s be honest, I love Sesame Street. It’s colorful, bright, endless ideas and nostalgic for everyone. So for this post, I’m sharing some photos of what we created and set up for the party. This was so much fun!

This was her 2nd Birthday sign that I ordered a file from Etsy and then had it printed at Costco. We used Rawsome Designs on Etsy for this one, easy and quick!

Our dessert table was SO much fun to set up, you know I love a good sweets table. We had Sesame Street character cupcakes that I made myself. I’m not gonna lie, I am super proud of these (besides Big Bird- don’t look too closely at him). I love to cook and bake, but fancy decorating is not a strong skill set of mine. So I looked for an easy tutorial, took my time and got these done. The best part is really, they weren’t as hard as I thought they would be. I got to play with fondant which is basically Play Doh. The worst part was mixing all the different colors in the frosting and cleaning the piping bags after.

I ordered these ADORABLE cookies from Be Sweet Omaha. They turned out so cute and they were delicious as well. My mom made the Cookie Monster Popcorn Crunch which included blue popcorn, mini oreos, mini chocolate chip cookies and candy eyeballs. Love the pop of blue on the table!

The Cookie Monster Cake I made with a little Pinterest inspiration. It’s a chocolate chip cake inside, blue vanilla buttercream frosting and a chocolate ganache poured over top.

Next up, chocolate chip cookies because you can’t have a Sesame Street dessert table without some chocolate chip cookies for Cookie Monster.

We also had jars of Skittles and M&Ms because they are super colorful, looked great on the table and they taste delicious too.

Last, but not least was a jar filled to the brim with gummy worms. We couldn’t leave Oscar the Grouch out and he loves his worms. This became Leah’s favorite thing to sneak. It’s mama’s favorite too, we definitely share the same gummy candy dna.

My mom made this AMAZING backdrop! Loved it so much! She attached strips of fabric to a cheap curtain rod and then we hung it on some command strips on the window. Added a ton of color.

We also made a balloon “arch” again this year. Last year’s was a doozy, so we decided to give ourselves a break this year. Much easier. The Sesame Street sign I printed at Costco again and Dave figured out how to attach the sign to the fabric. Spoiler alert: hot glue gun and mini clothes pins. He’s a genius.

Oscar made another appearance, where else but in the trash can. Leah was a huge fan of the random trash can in the room with Oscar on it. I’m guessing she threw a lot of stuff in that trash can that we have no clue about.

This hopscotch might be one of my favorites at the party. We got this idea off Pinterest and it was incredibly easy. Foam colored squares (from Michael’s) and double stick tape. Pretty sure every kid jumped through it (and the adults wanted to).

Goody bags were a last minute thing. I am a new(ish) mom and I have no idea what the protocol is for kid parties and good bags. Leah really doesn’t have friends from school yet so I don’t have any other birthday parties to go off of. So in the end, I just wanted to use these print outs we found of Sesame Street characters on these colorful bags. I put really random crap in there, if I’m honest. Stickers, glasses, goldfish and cookie snack bags and crayons. But they looked SO cute!

I made Leah’s official birthday cake and truth be told, I totally forgot to put the sprinkles on the inside of the cake. Ugh. I wanted to make a funfetti cake and halfway through the baking I realized I totally forgot the funfetti part of the funfetti cake. But…..like the problem solver I am, I just put sprinkles on the outside of the cake. So it ended up pretty on the outside, plain (but very yummy) on the inside.

I also bought this adorable cake topper on Etsy from Luna Bella Parties on Etsy, totally made the cake. Along with the cake, we served the cereal milk ice cream that I had made from the Milk Bar cookbook. I’m obsessed with this ice cream and have been force feeding it to anyone who comes to my house. If you come over, be prepared.

This sign was also from Luna Bella Parties on Etsy and I have to say it is impeccably made. I love that we will be able to hang this in Leah’s room or playroom and have forever.

Drinks we chose to have Elmo’s fruit punch and Abby’s pink lemonade. Obvious choices, right?

These little straws we found on Etsy too, however they were ridiculously expensive for straws. So, my mama made them. Printed out the tiny signs, cut them out and then hot glued them around some straws I already had. Boom.

The Leah Street sign was the first thing I bought, again from Luna Bella Parties on Etsy. (can you tell I liked them). They were amazing to work with, great communication and their stuff was made so well. Love! This sign is the cutest and Leah loved it!

Besides the dessert table, I think people commented most on the fruit and veggie trays. I’m also slightly obsessed with these. Incredibly easy with a big impact. We had a broccoli Oscar, Strawberry Elmo, Blueberry Cookie Monster and a cheese platter Big Bird. Just the cutest.

This girl loves broccoli and it’s the first thing she snuck off the table. Love her little sneaky face.

Miss Leah’s shirt I also ordered from Etsy shop Wee Woolie Knitz. I wanted something comfy and cute for her to wear and this shirt was perfect. Really well made and she got to wear it to school the next day as well. ( I washed it, don’t worry. She had a lot of frosting on there)

We loved planning this little party for Leah’s 2nd birthday. I love doing this stuff, I know people think I’m crazy but it really fills me with total joy. I love seeing Leah get excited and exploring all the little details around. Sneaking candy from the dessert table, throwing trash into Oscar’s trash can or yelling “cookie!” when she say the blueberry fruit tray. I love it all. :)
