Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream
Mint Chocolate Chip is my favorite flavor of ice cream, it’s a perfect mix of rich chocolate and sweet mint in a creamy ice cream. This recipe is very easy with no fancy ingredients. You will love it!
Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream is my absolute favorite flavor of ice cream. It has been since I was little. I have a hard time choosing other flavors sometimes because I’m afraid I’ll have regrets and be sad I just didn’t go with my favorite in the first place. Of course I had to make my own homemade version of my favorite flavor.
Some mint chocolate chip ice creams taste a little fake so I was determined to keep the mint flavor subtle, authentic but still enough so you know it’s mint. My trick is to use the Peppermint Extract rather than mint. Seems like it wouldn’t make that much of a difference, but it is SO different. I find the peppermint is more of an authentic flavor and now I won’t go back for any of my mint desserts.
The other major player is the chocolate chunks. Gotta go with chunks. And you gotta chop your own off a bar of semi-sweet chocolate. A little extra step, but it makes a world of difference. All different sizes and some thin shavings mixed in as well. It’s the best!
Last thing is the color. Yes, the green is added. Sorry to disappoint you if you were thinking otherwise. I like adding the light green, minty color. I know it adds zero flavor and it would taste exactly the same without the color, however, I feel like the color makes it officially mint chocolate chip ice cream.
I am so happy to pass this recipe onto all my fellow mint chocolate chip ice cream lovers out there too!
